A Late Proposal
end over end
each piece
fitting into the next
all morning we worked I
forgot
what I had been
thinking
what had kept me
where nothing lives
well or easily
let’s live by a
river
he said looking up at
me
then the last plank
slipped into place
and then he asked me
would I yes
